IONOS loading time and uptime test
To begin our complete analysis of IONOS, we will give you the results of the tests and readings carried out during a full year of use of its hosting offer.
The objective here is straightforward: to see if the host is up to the benchmarks on the market in 2022 from a loading time and uptime point of view.
If you have not had the opportunity to browse the IONOS site, know that the company announces that it can guarantee an uptime of 99.99% to its customers. The reality that we have been able to discover is a little different. For classic web hosting (shared), we found an uptime closer to 99.91%.
IONOS Features
We will now focus on the features and benefits offered by IONOS from 1&1. Is the host generous? Will it give you access to advanced features to make your job easier when administering your site and hosting?
IONOS will give you access to a lot of things without being the most generous host at this level:

Our opinion on the IONOS solution
The customer area interface offered by IONOS is correct. You will have no trouble finding the information you want (invoicing, products you have at the host, etc.).
That being said, our opinion about the host’s administration panel differs. By choosing IONOS by 1&1, you will not be able to rely on the cPanel administration panel.
You will have to settle for the administration panel developed by the host. It is not really to our taste because we find it not very functional. This is our sole responsibility, but unfortunately, IONOS does not allow the possibility of deploying and using cPanel to administer a website.
We are, therefore, on the whole mixed regarding the grip offered. For us, the IONOS administration tool is unsuitable for someone new to hosting and creating a site. And those who already have a little more experience may be confused by this “new” interface.
Technical support
We would have liked to tell you that the customer support offered by the host makes up for all the negative aspects we have been able to list so far. However, this is not the case.
Overall, IONOS technical support is decent. It is available 24hr x 7, and you can contact an agent by opening a ticket or using the telephone line provided.
IONOS also offers an online chat function (the chat is only for commercial questions, though). Live chat is available even if you are not yet a customer and want more details on a proposed accommodation.
As with any host, you will have to be more patient if you decide to communicate with support via ticket than by phone. That said, you will still get answers relatively quickly.
The host also offers a knowledge base so that you can find answers to your questions and solutions to your problems.
Our opinion of IONOS and its customer support is therefore reasonable. However, as we hinted above, this is not enough to make us forget the vast shortcomings that the host has in terms of performance and handling.
